The Expedition section of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award can be the highlight of the whole scheme for many participants. It should be a challenging and rewarding adventure that will provide great memories and skills for years to come, and that's exactly what we aim to achieve.

why choose us for your DofE expedition?
Learn Outdoors is one of the few DofE Expeditions providers that operates in the stunning Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales – an ideal location for holding safe, exciting and dynamic outdoor activities. More importantly, we devise and tailor our DofE programmes to your specific group's needs by working closely with you to ensure high levels of support and communication in the run up to an expedition, and to ultimately help your participants achieve their goals.
We are a DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP) and hold an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority AALA Licence for Trekking (Hillwalking and Mountaineering).
All our instructors are qualified Mountain Leaders, highly experienced DofE trainers and supervisors, and the majority are also Gold Accredited Assessors.
We believe wholeheartedly in DofE. It's a fantastic vehicle for teaching new skills and developing young people and we are passionate about helping individuals to achieve their DofE Award.

Philip has been involved in delivering DofE expeditions since 1997, working with thousands of young people from all over the country. He is an Accredited Assessor (Bronze, Silver & Gold) and a member of the Mid-Wales Assessor Network. He is regularly called upon to advise on running expeditions, and his services to DofE were recognised by invitation to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party.
