Learn Outdoors is based in the beautiful Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales. We specialise in providing high quality and informative outdoor training courses throughout Wales and England facilitated by a team of highly qualified and professional instructors.

Philip Clegg Philip has been involved in outdoor training, instructing and leading groups since 1997. He established Learn Outdoors in order to provide a high level of varied and bespoke outdoor training and instruction to anyone, regardless of age or prior knowledge. He holds the Mountain Leaders Award, is a member of the Mountain Leader Training Association, a DofE Accredited Assessor and member of the Mid-Wales Assessor Network. Philip has a background within the Environmental Sector and is keen to promote a sensitive and sustainable use of the countryside. |
the Learn Outdoors team
At Learn Outdoors, we believe it's important to draw on a broad range of knowledge, skills and experiences and combine that into our unique training courses. We are therefore privileged to have a carefully selected team of instructors facilitating our courses, each of whom has excellent credentials, qualifications and prior training.

safety & standards
• All our instructors hold the Mountain Leader Award as a minimum qualification. They also have Enhanced CRB checks and are First-Aid trained.
• We are a DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP).
• We hold an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) Licence for Trekking (Hillwalking & Mountaineering).
• Safety is taken seriously and we maintain comprehensive operating and emergency procedures. These are inspected by the Adventure Activity Licensing Service (AALS).
• Our Public Liability insurance is for £5 million and our Employers' Liability for £10 million.

• We are based in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales and have access to some beautiful and wild countryside.
• We don't take the countryside for granted and we minimise our impact on the environment wherever possible.
• Our business is focussed. We aim to deliver a few products well but don't try to be all things to all people. If we can't deliver a particular service you are looking for we'll help you find someone who can.
